-North American champion Nikita Sputnik was deemed the first champion when he defeated the World Heavyweight Champion, Stud-Boy, to unify the two championships. As a direct result, the Unified World Heavyweight Championship is comprised of the NEW World Heavyweight Championship, the NEW Intercontinental Championship, the NEW North American Heavyweight Championship, and the NEW Iron Man Championship belts.

On the first Firefights back April 29th, a mini-tourney was held to decide the other #1 contender, and after going through a Triple Threat, and then defeating Nikita Sputnik later on in the night, Hardcore Jay earned himself a shot as well.
